Jimmie Lee Skaggs, Sr., son of Alice Faye Reeser and the late Roland Skaggs, was born January 12, 1951 in Rolla, Missouri and he entered into rest on July 26, 2010 in Salem, Missouri at the age of 59 years, six months and 14 days.
On October 20, 1971 Jimmie was united in marriage to Linda Light and to their union two children were born.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, of the home in Salem, Missouri; mother, Alice Faye Reeser of Vida, Missouri; children, Jimmie Lee Skaggs, Jr. and wife, Carrie; and Katina Delmain and husband, Josh, all of Salem, Missouri; brothers, Bob Skaggs and wife, MO, Doolittle, Missouri; Allen Skaggs and wife, Thelma, Vida, Missouri; Edward Skaggs and wife, Beth, Jerome, Missouri; sisters, Beverly Blankenship, Vida, Missouri; Carolyn Turner and husband, Dale, Springfield, Missouri; Sandra Miller and husband, Ron, Vida, Missouri; Effie Furse and husband, Sylvester, Doolittle, Missouri; grandchildren, Kelsey Long; Dalton Skaggs; Katie Usery; Bill Usery, Jr., Kayla Usery, Alexis Delmain; great-grandson, Bryden.
Preceding him in death was his father, Roland Skaggs.
Jimmie was employed by, and managed, the Salem Ready Mix plant in Salem, Missouri for 18 years, and also operated J & L Trucking for the past eight years. Spending time outdoors was his favorite pastime, especially when it was hunting and fishing season. Listening to music brought him great enjoyment, especially gospel and country music, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially the time with his grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service for Jimmie Lee Skaggs, Sr. will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor Lyndell Decker officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 P.M., Thursday, July 29, 2010. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery, Salem, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the Skaggs family.
