Betty Sandefer of Sullivan, Missouri formerly of St. James, Missouri passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 83. Betty was born on November 12, 1930 to the late Harry Newton and Hilda Kalb.
Miss Betty Kalb was united in marriage to Mr. George J. Sandefer on February 24, 1951 an to this union four children were born. They shared 25 years of marriage before George passed in 1976.
Betty loved God, family, and life; she loved everything about the outdoors and the beautiful world God had given her to live in, she loved watching the humming birds, going camping with her children, and when the grandchildren came along Betty was back in the camping mode setting off to share her love of nature with them. Being raised in a family of nine children, Betty truly appreciated the closeness of her siblings all through her life, she especially enjoyed the "girl" time and looked forward to spending it with her two sisters. She loved to travel with her family and really enjoyed it when the trip involved the beach and great food. She also enjoyed shopping for clothes, and spending time with family and friends. Betty was also very artistic and loved to draw, crochet, play the piano and listening to music. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Betty Sandefer is survived by her children Randall Dennis Sandefer and wife Pamela, of Prescott, AZ, Linda Sue Brown, of Titusville, FL, Janet Kay Elms, of Holts Summit, MO, and John Kevin Sandefer, of Sullivan, MO; brothers, Merle Kalb, of Powers, OR, and Jerry Kalb, of Montgomery City, MO; 16 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband George, Betty was preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Hartupee, and Lorraine Henry; brothers, Bud, Clarence, Kenny, and Bobby Kalb.
Funeral services for Betty Sandefer will be held at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Pastor James Sample officiating. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 at the chapel from 6-8 PM.
