Clinton Harold Medlock

Clinton Harold Medlock, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, he was 69. Clint was born in Salem, Missouri on November 11, 1954 to Harold and Berndean (Hunter) Medlock. Clint lived his entire life in Salem. When he got out of high school Clint embarked on a journey. He was always very mechanically inclined, and enjoyed working on cars. He worked for Pines Chevrolet, Knight & Maher, and various auto shops in the area before landing at the Missouri Department of Conservation as a mechanic. Clint worked there for 28 years and retired in 2013. During this time Clint and Barb owned and operated Medlock Landscaping and Excavation from 1994 until 2014. Clint was the first person in the area to buy a Bobcat skid-steer, he had really researched and knew it was something they could offer to their customers, it really helped in the landscape business, but was really nice for building ponds and clearing large brush. He took pride in his work and was a fair and honest businessman. Clint was very active in the Son’s of the American Legion Post #99; The “Smokin Hot Veterans Rib Cook-Off was once just a dream for Clint, and for about 5 years he talked about it, finally bringing to fruition in 2013, it turned into one of the best fund-raising events for the Legion. For the first couple of years although selling out every year, the event was attended very well, and the last few years seeing a growth from out of town, and out of state contestants. He really enjoyed hosting and participating. He has won several first, a few second, and third place ribbons. Clint was also a member of the Current River Cruisers, a local car club that shared a passion for restoring and collecting vintage automobiles. He and Barb have a 1932 Ford Coupe they enjoy traveling around to local car shows and participating in area parades. Clint was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, and loyal. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences, he could fix or build anything. He was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important — the simplicity of living a life with those you love. Of all the people he touched, his most proud achievement in life was marrying his wife Barbara Ellen Barr, who supported him in all his glory during his heyday, and lovingly supported him physically during their last days together. Clinton Harold Medlock is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barb Medlock, of the home; children, Jay Medlock and wife Stacy, of Salem, MO, Amy Capps and husband Ben, of Freeport, FL, and Josh Tripp, of Licking, MO; grandchildren, Justus Barred and special friend Payten Marriott, Sophia Capps, Brinkley Tripp, Jessalyn Tripp, William Capps, Axel Tripp, and Mercedes Medlock; mother, Berndean Medlock, of Salem, MO; brother, Gary Medlock, and wife Sarah, of Salem, MO; sister, Sheila Hampton and husband Keith, of Salem, MO; special friends, Bill and Kathy Heavin, Mike and Glenda Wofford, Bill and Theresa Walker, Sherry and Dan Hillebert, Don and Angie Curtis, Marvin and Lynn Wofford, Melody Fortner, Lynette Happle, Ingrid Shorey, Mitzi Anderson, Jane Scheidemantel, Stanley and Joann Schafer, and the entire Post #99 Legion family; a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Medlock. A Celebration to honor the life of Clinton Medlock will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary at 6:00PM. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Chapel prior to the service on Friday from 4-6PM. The family asks that you wear blue jeans, and if you have a side-by-side, or a classic car, please join in on a procession to the American Legion following the service. Memorials are suggested and greatly appreciated to The Son’s of the American Legion Post #99, cards are available at all James & Gahr locations
