Bill Jacob Cowan of Salem, Missouri was born in Mounds, Oklahoma on March 21, 1932, to Robert and Cora May (Brown) Cowan. Bill passed from this life on March 22, 2022, at SMDH at the age of 90 years. Bill served in the United States military during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954. He was then united in marriage to Doradine “Dean” Chumley on February 29, 1955. He worked as manager for Great Plains gas company. Bill was an active member of Second Baptist Church as a teacher, leader, and deacon. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and making bouquets of flowers and quilting. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Robert, and Cora May Cowan; wife Doradine (Chumley) Cowan; brothers George, James, Jack, and Bob; sister Dorothy Branson. Bill is survived by his daughter Patricia Ann Cowan of Salem, Missouri; sister Mary Stewart of Rolla, Missouri; a host of nieces and nephews, many friends. Funeral Service for Bill Cowan will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Salem, Missouri. Visitation will be on Friday, March 25, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Salem, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to DCAWS. Cards are available at any James & Gahr Mortuary.
