Charles Earl Pankey

May 17, 1944 - February 1, 2022

Charles Earl Pankey of Rolla, Missouri passed away peacefully oon Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the St. James Living Center in St. James, Missouri at the age of 77. Charles was born in West Plains, Missouri on May 17, 1944 to the late Cubb and Madeline (Mitchell) Pankey. Charles proudly served his County in the Unites States Army during the Vietnam War. He entered into service on September 19, 1967 and was Honorably discharged on January 14, 1970. After Charles completed Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he came home on leave and married the love of his life, Miss Laura Mae Beer on December 18, 1967. This union was blessed with three children. Charles worked for Walter Tiede on his hog farms for several years. He love animals, and being outside, so it was the perfect fit for him. He enjoyed hunting, and fishing; teaching his children, and grandchildren what a blessing it was to be raised in Missouri, enjoying all the beauty of the rivers, lakes, and streams, and hunting land that Missouri had to offer. Charles really loved to be outside, in the summer months he was outside from sun up, to sun down, just working in the yard, or tinkering with a lawn mower, or a car he had setting around waiting to be fixed. Most importantly he loved his family, he spend as much time as he could with his children, and grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted family man, and will be lovingly missed by all that knew and loved him. Charles is survived by his children, Clarence Pankey and SO Loretta Pankey, of Rolla, MO, Loretta Crabtree and husband Rodney, of Moberly, MO, and Jerry Pankey and wife Delores, of Rolla, MO; brothers, Cubb Pankey JR, of Alton, MO, Kenneth Pankey, of Alton, MO, Bertie Pankey and wife Sharon, of West Plains, MO, and Mack Pankey, of St. James, MO; sisters, Myrtle Watson, of St. James, MO, Sally Hader and husband Rodney, of Independence, MO, and Mattie Jones, and husband James, of West Plains, MO; grandchildren, Amber, Shyan, Kayla, Justin, Courtney, Kelly, Crystal, Anthony, Laura, and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Laura Ruth, Bobby, Keaton, Adain, Christopher, Miles, Julian, and Mariah; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents Cubb and Madeline Pankey, Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Laura Mae Pankey, in 2006; brothers, Dave, Dale, Lawrence, and James Pankey; sister, Kissie Williams; great-grandson, Sibastian Gravett. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor Gary Bartle officiating. Interment will follow with Full Military Honors at Skaggs Cemetery in Maries County, Missouri. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Chapel on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 5-7PM.
