Clayton Monroe Vance

January 9, 1933 - December 8, 2017

Clayton Monroe Vance of Rolla, Missouri passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at the age of 84. He was born in Hollister, Missouri on January 9, 1933 to the late Isaac Newton and Thelma Mae (Julian) Vance. Clayton proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Once honorably discharged, he began his career in education; he had a degree in physical education and a minor in history. He was a principal at many different schools, New Haven being his longest placement, before his retirement from Skyline K-8. After his retirement he enjoyed spending time outdoors farming and raising cattle attending church at Salem Avenue Church, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Clayton was a loving father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Clayton is survived by his children, Norman (Ruth Ann) Vance of Hermann, MO, Alan Vance of Rolla, MO, Scott (Tracy) Rhineland, MO and Terry (Debbie) Vance of Washington, MO; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Clayton was preceded in death by one brother, Waylon Vance. Funeral Services for Clayton Monroe Vance will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Rolla Chapel of the James and Gahr Mortuary, Rolla, Missouri. Interment will be held at Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens, Rolla, Missouri. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00PM-7:00PM on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Rolla Chapel of the James and Gahr Mortuary, Rolla, Missouri.
