March 19, 1923 - November 4, 2019
Delbert Pruitt of Salem, Missouri passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Phelps Health Center in Rolla, MO at the age of 96. Delbert was born in Montauk, MO on March, 19, 1923 to Willie and Ola (Krewson) Pruitt. One of seven children, Delbert was united in marriage to Martha Quick on December 20, 1958. Together they became the proud parents of two children, Barbara and Eddie. Employed at International Shoe, Delbert’s usual occupation was working in the woods as a sawmill operator. Being outdoors gave him peace, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and digging roots during the summer. When indoors, Delbert enjoyed visiting with friends and family and listening to St. Louis Cardinals games on the radio. However, his biggest adventures were to be found in driving Martha around, and taking in the sites. He will be lovingly missed by all that knew him. Delbert Pruitt is survived by his wife, Martha, of Salem; his daughter, Barbara Abbott and husband Kelly and son, Eddie Pruitt and wife Karen, of Salem, MO; sisters, June Schafer of Darien, MO and Alta Leming of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Branden Abbot and wife Kesha, Bradley Abbott, Dylan Pruitt and wife Amanda, and Emily Pruitt; and a host of nieces and nephews. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Ola Pruitt; brothers, Vernon and John Pruitt; and sisters, Lela Nichols, Roberta Cundiff, and Virginia Peeling.
