Jim Anderson, age 74, passed away Monday, February 14, at his home in Rolla, Missouri. Jim was born February 23,1947 in St Louis, Missouri to the late Harold and Virginia (Casey) Anderson. Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Machholz on April 18, 1975; this union was blessed with two sons. He was a 1965 graduate of Webster Groves High School and went on to attend The University of Missouri-Columbia where he was a three-year starter as an offensive lineman for Dan Devine’s Tiger football team. He was a member of the 1968 Gator Bowl team defeating Alabama 35-10. Jim also played in the Hula Bowl and Coaches All-American game his senior season and was a fifth-round draft choice of the Philadelphia Eagles. After his playing career, Jim went on to coach football at every level for more than 40 years. After retiring from coaching football, Jim coached golf at Missouri Valley College until his retirement in 2014. In 2007, Jim was selected to the Webster Groves All-Century Turkey Day Football Team and honored again in 2010 by being inducted into the Webster Groves Statesmen sports Hall of Fame. Jim is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Patricia Anderson of Rolla, Missouri; son, Kyle (Meredith) Anderson of Salem, Missouri; grandchildren, Bailey Anderson, Mackenzie Day, Jaxson Day, Lexi Anderson, Tyson Anderson and Mia Anderson; sister, Jane (Ed) Brueggemann of St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his oldest son, Andy Anderson. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00PM until 3:00PM on Saturday, March 05, 2022 at the Rolla Chapel of the James and Gahr Mortuary, Rolla, Missouri.
