Thelma “Kay” Shelton of Salem, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the age of 75. She was born in Mountain Grove, Missouri on January 17, 1944 to the late Billie and Mary (Bailey) Stephens. Kay’s parents moved to Salem, Missouri when she was just an infant; they bought a small farmhouse and she attended New Hope for elementary school and graduated from Salem High School in 1962. Shortly after her high school graduation, she married the love of her life, Jr. Shelton; this union was blessed with one daughter. Kay and Jr. were members of Corinth Baptist Church. She was a licensed beautician, worked in the shoe factory and was a dispatcher for the Dent County Sheriffs Department. Once retired, she enjoyed spending time at home with Jr. and her beloved cat Daisy. She was always a lover of animals, especially cats. Kay was a loving wife, mother and friend who will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Kay is survived by her loving husband of fifty-six years, Jr. Shelton of the home and daughter, Dana Beth Manjarrez of Rolla, Missouri. Funeral Service for Kay Shelton will be held at 1:00PM at the Salem Chapel of the James and Gahr Mortuary, Salem, Missouri with Billy Miller and Mike Bell officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Bell, Billy Miller, Billie Jack, Bob Stephens, Davey Shelton and Doug Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Wofford, Jim Bowen and Kenny Nash. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 11:00AM until service time at 1:00PM. Interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery, Salem, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the DCAWS and the Backpack Program.
