Mary C Stephens of Salem, MO was born in Keysville, MO on January 23, 1932 to Francis Marion Campbell and Sarah Margaret Wilkinson Campbell. She passed away in Jefferson City, MO on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 20 days. Mary grew up in Cherryville, MO where she attended Cherryville High School and later attended Salem High School. She married the love of her life, Gerald D. Stephens on July 3rd, 1950 in Salem, MO from this union two sons Donald and David and daughter Nancy were born. Mary worked at the First National Bank and later as administrative secretary at the Salem High School in Salem. Mary loved the people and message of the church and was a member of Salem United Methodist. Mary enjoyed her long career at the R80 school district, especially the many good times with faculty and students. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, gardening, bowling, and spending time with her family. Mary also enjoyed her greater church family and the United Methodist Women, as well as her Circle. In her later years, she visited and supported those who were home bound and in long-term care. Mary loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Margaret Campbell; parents-in-law Herbert and Lura Stephens; brothers Everett (Fae) Campbell, Glenn (Sybil) Campbell, Delmar Campbell, James (Fern) Campbell, Kenneth Campbell and Edward Campbell; sisters Vivian (Henry) Slovensky and Jane (Lester) Gray; husband Gerald Stephens and son, David Stephens. She is survived by son Donald (Tracy) of St. Petersburg FL, daughter Nancy (Jim) of Columbia, MO; daughter in law Sally of O’Fallon MO, grandchildren Andrew Stephens of St. Petersburg, FL, John Stephens (Stephanie) of Greeley CO, Brian Tune (Alyssa) of Raymore MO, Ashley Mantle (Mickey) of Osage Beach MO, Craig Stephens (Tifanie) of O’Fallon MO, Dan Stephens (Lauren) of Champaign, IL, and Emily Stricklan (Nathan) of Florissant, MO, great grandchildren Jeremiah Hull, Elijah and Benjamin Tune of Raymore, MO, Braylyn and Tucker Stephens of O’Fallon, MO. She is also survived by sister-in-law Fern Campbell of Steelville, MO, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, July 16, 2021, at James and Gahr Mortuary, Salem, MO. Graveside Service is at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 17, 2019 at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Salem MO with Rev. Chuck Whitmire officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dent County Historical Society in care of James and Gahr Mortuary.
