Norma Ellerbee

Norma May Major Ellerbee, 89 years of age went to her heavenly home surrounded by family on March 10, 2022. She was born in Dent County on February 4, 1933, to Cledis and Gertrude Major. Norma attended Water Fork School through the 8th grade. Norma was saved at a young age at New Home Baptist Church. Norma was united in marriage Curtis “Tex” Ellerbee on December 16, 1950. To this union 4 children were born: Bill, Carl, Debbie, and Curt Jr. She was a gifted seamstress, using those talents to not only pay the utility bills but to show her love for family and friends. She could make anything, or at least that’s how it seemed. Her career included Barads Lingerie, Hagal, and she finally retired from Rawlings Industries. Norma was a faithful member of the New Harmony Baptist Church If the doors were open se was there working many hours in the coffee house, vacation bible schools, and heading up tent kitchen when the current location was being built. Norma lived her faith. Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Cledis and Gertrude Major; husband Curtis “Tex” Ellerbee; granddaughter Jessica Manning; 4 brothers; 1 sister; 1 brother in law; 4 sisters in law. She is survived by her 4 children Bill Ellerbee and wife Linda of Bolivar, Missouri, Carl Ellerbee and wife Phyllis of Avilla, Missouri, Curtis Ellerbee Jr. and wife Terrie of Dahlonega, Georgia, Debbie Manning and husband Bill of Bolivar, Missouri; siblings Jerry Major and wife Diane of Boss, Missouri, Sonja Nash of Salem, Missouri, Bonnie Hortsmann of Herman, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Mounce Cemetery in Salem, Missouri. Visitation will be held Monday March 14, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Salem, Missouri.
