December 8, 1926 - June 8, 2021
Robert Lee Eilman of Rolla, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the Oak Pointe Nursing Center in Warrenton, Missouri at the age of 94. Robert was born on December 8, 1926, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Richard and Frances (Stellle) Eilman. Robert enlisted in the United States Army on February 21, 1948, he not only served his Country, but he also served his Country proud; he was a highly decorated Solider, who never bragged, nor boasted about his service time. He had his military uniform “laid out’ for when the time came; it was only then did we know the story of what an amazing HERO he actually was; not only did Robert serve in a war, he served in WWII, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. It was during his wartime service that his immense bravery earned him 4 Bronze Stars, and 4 Purple Hearts; the Air Medal of Valor, awarded for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty, and the most prestigious and coveted of all, the Presidential Citation from the United States Army, which is only given for extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy. He also held the Joint Chief of Staff medal which was earned for his time working at the Pentagon. Although we never knew it, Robert was kind of “a big deal”. He was united in marriage to Miss Arlene Felderwerth, this union was blessed with one daughter. Sadly, both Arlene and his daughter Patty Kofahl preceded in him death. Robert grew up in St. Louis, Missouri; he was a self-proclaimed “ladies man” who enjoyed going to the casino, both in St. Louis, and Tunica, Mississippi, playing Mississippi Stud Poker; he also enjoyed going to the Moose Lodge, and going out for breakfast with his buddy Larry. Robert is survived by his brother Raymond Eilman, and of host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. In addition to his parents, wife, and daughter, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Cooper, and brothers, Jim and Bill Eilman. A Celebration to honor his life will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021, at the Rolla Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary from 11-1PM. Full Military Honors will be at 1PM. Memorials are suggested to the Russell House/or/ Shop With A Cop, cards are available at all James & Gahr locations.
