Roy B. Corley

Roy B. Corley of Salem, Missouri passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Salem Care Center in Salem, Missouri at the age of 94. Roy was born in Liberty, Tennessee on June 16, 1924 to the late Roy and Alvie (Burton) Corley. Roy had a full and adventurous life for his 94 years. Upon his graduation from Liberty High School in 1942, Roy went to work for the U.S. Corps of Engineers, eagerly attending every course offered to him which included, Network Analysis Systems, Mechanical Inspection, Paint Coatings and Quality Assurance, Explosive Safety, Soil Testing, Architectural Hardware, Welding Inspection, and more; this career also allowed for the travel that he enjoyed, from living in beautiful state of Alaska, to the deserts of Oman, Saudi Arabia. Roy was united in marriage to Jacqueline L. Canella in May, 1969. He lived with his new family in the Hannibal area before he and Jacqueline moved to Anchorage, Alaska, this move gave him the opportunity to work all over the world with his wife traveling with him. After being in Alaska for just over 25 years they came home to Missouri. They moved to Springfield, then on to Salem. Roy was a longtime member of the NEMO Shiners, of St. Louis, Missouri, and also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Roy B. Corley is survived by his wife Jacqueline L. Corley, of Salem, MO; step-children, Mike Canella (Chris) of Paducah, KY, Jim Callella (Sanci) of Thurmont, MD, Geriann Ball (Sanborn), of Salem, MO, Mary Lou Rentz (Tom), of Kasillof, AK, and John Canella, of Springfield, MO; brothers, Roger Corley, of Smithville, TN, and Albert Corley, of Liberty, TN; a host of extended family and friends. In addition to his parents Roy was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Willoughby. A Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Salem United Methodist Church with Pastor Barry Bough officiating. There will be a Masonic service at 10:30AM. The family suggests and greatly appreciates memorials to the Methodist Church Love-Packs, cards are available at the Church, and also all James & Gahr locations.
