Steven Andrew Beakley passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 68. Born on March 12, 1951 to Andrew and Thelma (Cox) Beakley, he was the oldest of his nine siblings, Jeanne, Sandy, Woody, Tom, Ralph, Jim, June, and Sharon. Steve graduated High School with a 3.4 GPA. He proudly served his Country in the United States Army for three years during the Vietnam War. He received nine awards for his service, and received a Honorable Discharge. He took classes at Bailey Technical School for Automotive Mechanic Technology. He was a class 1-A repairman at Bi-State Public Transit System in St. Louis, Missouri. He was forced to leave employment due to disability caused by Multiple Sclerosis. Steve is a disabled Veteran. He was a loving and devoted father to Andy, Ethan, Angela, David and Aaron, and proud grandfather to Lucas, Rayanna, Gabrille, Halie, Dakotta, A.J., Justin, and Nolan, and great-granddaughter, Ellzie. During his high school years Steve worked for Cyclone Enterprises, where they made hot dog machines, and small safes for delivery vans that carried money and receipts. Steve learned all phases of production necessary in the making of hot dog machines, earning the assistant production set-up position in all phases of the hot dog machine manufacturing process. While employed at Bi-State Bus, Steve was one of the 5 repairmen honored for the first place team in the Bi-State Bus Rodeo held annually. He was also employed at Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri as a mechanic by the city of St. Louis Parks Division. His interests were auto repair; he was an avid guitar player, playing for self accompaniment for songs that he wrote and sang in Church. He liked older automobiles and trucks without computer systems, and always maintained his own vehicles. Steve was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club, a member of the American Legion for four years, but was proudest of the time spent with the Christian Royal Rangers from 1984-1990. Steve was a good man, a good father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Steven Andrew Beakley is survived by his children, Andrew R. Beakley and wife Tonja, of St. James, MO, Ethan Beakley and wife November, of Fenton, MO, Angie Beakley, of St. James, MO, David Beakley and wife Nikki, of Bucklin, MO, and Aaron Beakley and wife Andrea, of St. James, MO; grandchildren, Lucas (Abigail) Beakley, Rayanna Beakley, Gabrielle Heflin, Halie Beakley, Dakotta Beakley, A.J. Beakley, Justin Beakley, and Nolan Beakley; great-granddaughter, Ellzie Beakley; a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Thelma Beakley. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 11:00AM at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Reverend Mick Thrasher officiating. Internment will full Military Honors will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 1:00PM at the Ft. Leonard Wood Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville, MO. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Chapel on Sunday, January 12, 2010 from 3-5PM.
